Create a new Google Doc in one keystroke
Open a blank Google Doc instantly from any tab with a keyboard shortcut — no Drive menus, no clicks.
How to do it
- Press ⌘ Shift K (Ctrl Shift K on Windows).
- Type "doc".
- Press Enter.
Also works from the address bar: type “g”, a space, then “doc”.
Add to Chrome — it’s freeFAQ
- Where is the new document saved?
- In the root of your Google Drive, under the Google account you are signed in with. You can move it afterwards.
- Is this the same as docs.new?
- Yes — the extension opens Google’s official docs.new shortcut, so the behaviour is identical.
